This is one of the models I have in the works for the Baker's model contest. Bought one Lindy for $4.25 and this body for $2. I'm going to kitbash a Johnny Lightning and the Lindy together into a lowered, chopped, Pro Street Early. Can you say " DUB THIS ".
They say the "first cut is the deepest".
I did care for the floor being level with the body so I recessed the boss where it sat to move the floor up into the body a bit. It'll help with the Pro Street look I'm going for.
Here is the chassis. I am using the rear tires from a JL A100. I had to remove some of the floor in order to get the tires to fit under the body.
I will use just the center section of the floor and chop off the seats. I will use the roll cage and seat from the JL100 also.
Just starting to fit the floor and the body
Some of the top peices almost ready to glue together
Still have work to do on the roof, widening it a fraction and adding a section to the rear to get the back to line back up correctly.
More pics as I progress. _________________ gp70

Thanks a ton guys, appreciate the kind words.
Still not sure what this thing is going to turn out like. Everything is so small. Been working on it a little more today, sanded some of the roof today but have been basically working to get a set of front tires on it. I took the JL rims and they work fine in the rear, no mods except a new shorter axle, but the fronts are another story. I have to narrow the rims, ( just sanding about an 1/8 of inch off of the back side ) and sanding off the ridge that holds the tire on. ( my fingers hurt from trying to hold that small rim and sand ). I am going to use the JL rims in front but think I will use the Lindy tires in front. Also have to remove some of the floor by the wheels in front to get the tires to sit in as far as I want.
I'll try to upload more pics tonight if I progress far enough. _________________ gp70

The wheels need a little more work to get things just right but I think got the basic look I'm after.

bet you could DVM, I am no model builder and I haven't played with a plastic model in 35 years, let alone something this small. Then the mind never stops thinkin of shit, latest mind game is am aluminum pro spoiler in the back, but I think I will cut the chute of the hacked up JL and add it to the Lindy. Should I be calling this a Johnny Lindy ? _________________ gp70

Thanks again guys, appreciate it !!
Glued the top onto the body only partially on one side, I still need to split the roof 3 more times and add filler peices to lengthen it and widen it on each side.
Worked on the interior a bit tonight also. I wanted to use the JL cage and seat as one peice but with the floor moved up and the roof down,,, not enough room. So I pretty much cut it all up, and now have 3 peices for the cage, one peice with the seat and one more with just the dash. Lots of trial and error fitting it into place but it's getting there. But it is progressing. _________________ gp70

Not to much progress on " Lucky Lindy " recently. I did cut the back off the roof section to lengthen it, I was going to just add a little peice to make it a little longer, but I cut the back section of the roof of the extra body and have that almost sanded down and ready to glue on. One peice to add to the rear instead of 2 that way. Then I just have to widen it on each side and the roof will be done. Considering it's the most work, I'll be glad to get the roof finished. I think the rest will be a lot easier.
Have to shorten the interior also, it's too tall with the roof chopped.
It's getting there, slowly but surely ! _________________ gp70
