| The rings can be used on either side but there is a difference. I learned this when I got mine form gotavan. There's a small notch at the bottom side of the rings to allow water to drain out and if you put them on the wrong side the notch will be at the top. wideload |

wacko contact gotavanz, hes a member here. He makes repro headlight rings. I have seen them . a little buffing and they look like chrome and will never rust. He also makes SS gas tank straps and everyone says they are better than the stock ones.
If you want to PM him here a link

| Don the only difference is whether or not the small notch on the back side is at the top or the bottom. Its supposed to be at the bottom to allow water to drain out. Other than that they work on either side. wideload |

OK, I took a closer look this morning and I've been partially wrong in my discription. There is a left and a right headlight ring. The drain notch is in line with the bottom screw hole in the ring and is visible from the front side of the ring. The ring is also wider to the inbord side and the screw holes are at aproximately the two, six, and ten o'clock positions. If you try to put them on the wrong side of the van the drain notch will end up in either the two or ten o'clock position and the ring won't fit properly because the screw holes are not at equal 120 degree spacings. Here's a pic of the driver's side ring. wideload

This was a good post,,,,,goes to show you there aint no such thing as a dumb question,,,,
Those rings are definately different,,,,,the holes are in different locations.
You might get 1 hole to line up if you try to put the wrong one on but it just wont look right.
We covered just about everything you need to know about headlight rings,,,,
So now he knows what he needs, and knows how to tell the left from the right and can get the correct one ,,,, |
